UNICUS Fitness Firefighter Fitness Initiative
UNICUS Fitness is the Leading Wellness and Fitness provider to Fire Departments and Fire Protection
Districts in the entire Midwest. They offer custom made wellness and fitness initiatives for every kind
of fire department. UNICUS Fitness also makes sure that all of it's services and products are compliant
with the Department of Homeland Security's Program Guidance for Assistance to Firefighters
Grant Program, as updated in 2006. That means that every one of their programs and services is completely
covered by Federal Grant money. Here is a breakdown of the services available for you and
your fire department:
"Eligible expenditures to carry out wellness and fitness expenditures may include costs for..... supplies,
or other related contract services, (e.g. health care consultants, trainers, and nutritionists),
directly associated with the implementation of the proposed activity"(*)
UNICUS H.E.A.T. Program (Health Evaluation And Training)
This provides IAFF/IAFC Joint Wellness Fitness Initiative standardized testing, onsite at your fire
houses, over the course of the 3 shifts. Testing is done over the course of 3 consecutive days, for a
maximum of 8 hours per day. So if you have to go out on a call, you can still make it back to be tested.
You will be provided with a complete data assessment report of the whole department and how they
compare against the national average. UNICUS Fitness can handle up to 100 tests per day. We supply
the majority of equipment, including force plate platforms, heart rate monitors and hand dynanometers.
Your department will have to provide either the Treadmills to do the Gerkin Protocol Test or a
Stepmill to do the FDNY Protocol Test.

FREE Additions:
12 Months of Personalized Online Training, customized for each individual. Each person will have
access to UNICUS Online, with a username and password. UNICUS will be able to provide programming
for the entire year for each individual tested. It's like having a personal trainer for the whole
year. Meal plans are also available with UNICUS Online.
